Portland, Ore. — moovel North America, the leading provider of public transit mobile ticketing and mobility-as-a-service (MaaS) solutions, today announced that Reno Marioni has joined the company as Chief Product Officer. Marioni will shape, manage and advance moovel’s product roadmap and lead a cross functional team of product managers and designers in moovel’s North America headquarters in Portland. He’ll also serve an integral role collaborating with moovel’s teams in Germany to drive product development.
Prior to moovel, Marioni served as the Senior Director of Digital Products & Services at BMW Group, where he led digital service innovation for the BMW Connected Car ecosystem in Munich, Germany. Marioni was influential in spearheading the transformation of BMW into the connected car digital services across all consumer touch points, including mobile, IOT, web, cloud and in-car systems in owned, shared, electric and autonomous vehicles.

Before BMW, Marioni served as the Director of Products at HERE Technologies, the Open Location Platform company that powers high-definition mapping services across connected and autonomous vehicle OEMs. During his time at HERE, Marioni founded and developed HERE’s global community mapping product portfolio, including the HERE Map Creator, which enables consumers and crowd mapping experts around the world to report, edit and fix HERE’s maps.
In addition, Marioni served as the Director of Strategic Partnerships at Nokia, where he led global partnerships and application development for the mobile, social and Internet industry for Nokia worldwide. Prior to Nokia, Marioni founded a startup that pioneered one of the earliest mobile social location check-in services, which was acquired in 2008.

Marioni received his Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science and Mathematics from the University of California in San Diego. He also secured a machine learning based patent in the method and apparatus for providing activity based map jobs for automated and self-healing map making in 2014.
