New partners integrated in the mobile app “Mobil in Düsseldorf”

Greater flexibility:

Get across town with just one app: Since November 2018, Rheinbahn and moovel Group GmbH have been offering the “Mobil in Düsseldorf” app which lets users search and compare various means of transportation and directly book the appropriate option. With “Stadtmobil” and “mytaxi”, two further mobility services are now also available via the app.

The app “Mobil in Düsseldorf” shows connections and departure times of buses and trains across the entire transit authority Rhein-Ruhr (VRR) area and provides information on any delays or canceled services in real time. The app also shows users available bikes for hiring from the region’s bike sharing provider, Nextbike, and vehicles of the car sharing provider car2go, while a map indicates Park+Ride car parks. The ”Stadtmobil” car sharing provider and the “mytaxi” taxi service are now also included in the app’s services, with available “Stadtmobil” vehicles being shown in the app. If customers opt for one of the vehicles, they are forwarded directly to ”Stadtmobil” where they can make the reservation. Journeys with mytaxi can be booked and paid for directly in the app. In the next step, the local provider Taxi Düsseldorf is also to be integrated.

How does the app work?
Users enter a specific starting point and then search for their destination of choice or they get localized. The app immediately displays all available mobility services, which can either be booked directly via the app or by being forwarded to the respective provider. If users opt for bus or rail, they can buy their ticket in the app with just a couple of clicks and instantly receive their digital ticket on their smartphone. They can pay for tickets via their PayPal account or by credit card, which they add when registering within the app. Initially, single tickets for adults and children and 24- and 48-hour tickets for one or up to five persons will be available for the entire VRR area (price levels A to D). It is planned to expand the range of tickets in the future to include the HappyHourTicket as well as multitrip tickets.

Users can download “Mobil in Düsseldorf“ free of charge from the Apple App Store and Google Play.
